Biography

Emily Boak graduated from the Faculty of Arts with a Master of Arts in Anthropology in June. Her research focused on the historical and ongoing use of the aerial perspective by foreign powers in visualizing and understanding Afghanistan. During her education, Emily devoted significant time and energy to study of the Russian language, spending two months as a Fellow for Peace at Middlebury College’s Kathryn Wasserman Davis School of Russian. While in graduate school, Emily also was an active member of the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology, organizing the department’s weekly public lecture series and student conference.
