Mackenzie B.

Chancellor's Scholarship

Awards and Scholarships

Mackenzie is enrolled in a combined degree program in the Bachelor of Commerce and the Bachelor of Science with a major in Computer Science. She chose this degree to satisfy her appetite for both the humanities and the STEM field, as she did not think she could choose just one. As a career, she hopes to pursue entrepreneurship in the technology industry, which provides the perfect combination of business and computer science. Other options she is considering is working as an accountant or in academia.

Mackenzie graduates from Calgary Christian High School in Calgary, AB. During her high school years, her top three accomplishments were achieving her rank of 2nd degree black belt in her Grade 12 year – something she has been training for since elementary school, starring in Tzietel in her school’s mainstage production, the musical Fiddler on the Roof, and representing her class as valedictorian at their graduation.

Having heard wonderful things from her four siblings and many friends that have studies here, as well as two parents who worked here, the University of Calgary was never a topic of much strenuous deliberation. For many years, Mackenzie has looked forward to the university’s excellent quality of learning, numerous clubs to join, and vibrant community that so many others have told her about.

This award changes Mackenzie’s entire degree. It will allow her to tackle her studies and get involved in the community unhindered by the burden of financial anxiety. During the summers, she is excited to pursue research programs and travel opportunities.
