Lujaina E.

Schulich Leader Scholarship

Awards and Scholarships

Lujaina graduated from Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School and is currently in the Software Engineering Program at the University of Calgary. Lujaina chose the University of Calgary for its diverse environment and responsive culture; she says she knew these characteristics were what she needed to grow both professionally and personally during her undergraduate career. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Lujaina wrote and published a storybook to educate children on staying safe and protecting themselves from the virus. She also developed a model for a biotechnology device used to measure the brain's electrical output and detect seizures using pattern analysis. As a Schulich Leader's program member, Lujaina says the mentorship has provided significant support for her. Lujaina is looking forward to researching how Artificial Intelligence can be used to destigmatize mental health and neurological conditions in humans.
