Biography

Emily is very excited to join the Bachelor of Commerce program offered by the Haskayne School of Business. As a student passionate about the dynamic and fast-paced realm of business, her ambitions align perfectly with the new challenges present in such a career. After university, Emily’s goal is to start working as an investment banker and then ultimately continue her career by creating a social enterprise where she can use her business expertise and connections to make a difference in the world.

Emily graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School in Calgary, AB. During her high school years, her top three achievements were: receiving the Governor Generals Sovereign Medal for Volunteers based on her exceptional volunteerism, co-founding Notable Notebooks (a student company that sells water-erasable reusable notebooks) and being selected to present at the LaunchX Global Demo Day at MIT out of 500 start-ups worldwide, and being an award-winning Model United Nations delegate for 4 years (notably receiving the Lester B. Pearson Award for Peace making.

The quality of the Haskayne’s commerce program and the values that this university prioritizes drew Emily to the University of Calgary. Emily is impressed by the co-op program that is available to BComm students, which equally important to her as the experienced and knowledgeable professors at the University of Calgary. Additionally, she appreciates how the University of Calgary looks to balance the demands of education with supporting the community, while recognizing the role we must play in sustainable growth. She looks forward to making a real impact at the university!

Emily shared, “As the recipient of such a prestigious award, this scholarship has absolutely changed my life in the most amazing way. With this award, I now can explore all the opportunities that UCalgary has to offer, and I simply just cannot wait to do so.” She would love to sincerely thank Richard and Lois Haskayne for making this scholarship – and by extension, her dreams – possible. Their generous contribution has given Emily the opportunity to make the most out of her University Experience without a worry in the world. She looks forward to doing great things and proving how much the scholarship means to her through her actions.
