Awards and Scholarships

Aliza is enrolled in the Health Science Honours Program at the University of Calgary. She wants to find ways to embrace her passions and interests in science in order to achieve long term goals within the field of Medicine. In the future, she wants to enter a career in medicine with the intention of positively impacting the quality of life of individuals, locally and internationally.

Before coming to the University of Calgary, Aliza graduated from Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School in Okotoks, AB. Her top three achievements in high school were: developing a project with the aim of creating an easily accessible and functioning 3D printed prosthetic leg design focused on personalization and affordability, coaching and mentoring children by introducing them to robotic programming with the purpose of addressing the global issue of accessibility to clean drinking water, and volunteering at the Oilfields General Hospital in long-term care and Lake Bonavista Community.

Aliza chose to study here because of how the University of Calgary stands out in its early exposure to independent inquiry, and collaborative learning, which are both essential qualities fostered by the Health Sciences Program. She looks forward to receiving opportunities of mentorship and scholarship at one of Canada's top institutions. Being able to attend university in her home city means Aliza can easily continue pursuing her passions while expanding her vision further during university. After hearing about the experiences of other students currently at the University of Calgary, it truly inspired Aliza to attend this reputable university.
