Biography

Sarah graduated from Holy Spirit High School in Conception Bay South, NL. While there, she had the opportunity to work for Women in Science and Engineering through an internship which sparked her interest in engineering. She was also chosen as Logistics Captain for Relay for Life and hosted an event with the help of her team to fundraise for the Canadian Cancer Society. Additionally, she regularly tutored high school students in Math and Science, helping them on an individual basis.

Sarah chose UCalgary because it was highly ranked, notably in research, which Sarah is interested in. She was also drawn to the co-op and internship program opportunities, as they offered the opportunity to synthesize her classroom learning and provide networking opportunities. She also appreciates that UCalgary offers many community and leadership opportunities, allowing her to continue volunteering while advancing her leadership skills.

Sarah is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Engineering program. She plans to pursue Electrical Engineering as her major so she can help develop new technologies that will help improve society.

Sarah’s career ambitions as an engineer will be to make people’s lives better and remove challenges from everyday life through creative solutions. She wants to be involved in the community and collaborate with others to make meaningful solutions.

For Sarah the Prestige Award will remove the financial burden and allow her to focus on her academics while still maintaining her involvement with clubs and extracurriculars, such as Relay for Life and Golden Z.

Sarah has a range of interests in Electrical Engineering including aerospace, biomedical, and sustainable energy. She is excited to dive more into these topics as she continues her education.
