Biography

Nikhil graduated from Webber Academy in Calgary, AB. While there, he was a 2023 Canada-Wide National Science Fair Finalist. He was also the recipient of the 2022 Mike Dorval Award, which is awarded to a senior high school student who best exemplifies the spirit of Speech in Alberta. Additionally, he was elected as the school’s student union president and executive from grades 10-12, where he organized school events.

Nikhil finds that UCalgary has been a source of inspiration for him throughout his life, through summer programs, field trips, and research opportunities. He is excited by the university’s strong academic culture with exemplary faculty and students supporting each other, and he was excited to be a part of that community.

Nikhil is enrolled in the Bachelor of Health Science Honours program, majoring in Biomedical Sciences. He was drawn to the program’s unique focus on research, innovation, and inquiry-based approach to learning.

Nikhil is passionate about improving health sustainability within our community and he wants to make an impact by helping minimize health inequities and address social determinants of health.

For Nikhil, the Prestige Award not only reduces the financial barrier of tuition, it also gives him the chance to devote more time to giving back to the UCalgary community in a meaningful way and to seize opportunities to meet his career goals and pursue his passions.

Nikhil would like to explore emerging interdisciplinary fields like bioinformatics and computational biology that utilize the knowledge of computer science and statistics to interpret biological research outcomes. He is excited about developing skills to help uncover patterns, predict outcomes, and understand the molecular basis of diseases.

Nikhil wants to extend his heartfelt gratitude to the donors for their generous support as he begins his journey at UCalgary. He is excited to become involved in the community and hopes to be a lifetime scholar alumnus, mentoring fellow students to help them achieve their goals as well.
