Biography

Esther graduated from William Aberhart High School in Calgary, AB. While there, she was selected for the REO STEM Fellowship. She was selected for this national program to shadow graduate student research projects and partake in an active learning experience. She was also the Class Valedictorian of her graduating class. Additionally, she received the Gretta Schwartz Memorial Award for Top Female Athlete across Calgary in 2023. She also received the Kevin Pelehos Award for Top Student Athlete.

Esther chose UCalgary because it provided an institution that guaranteed a major of choice in the second year of study. She also finds Calgary located near a world-renowned national park where she can enjoy hikes and snowboarding year-round.

Esther is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Engineering program. She chose this program due to its wide applications in many different sectors. It allows her to be flexible with her career and explore different opportunities.

Esther would like to attend law school and become an Environmental Law and Engineering Consultant. She aims to combine her technical background with legal knowledge to ensure that environmental challenges are effectively addressed.

For Esther, the Prestige Award allows her to dedicate her time to studies and extra-curricular activities without worrying about the financial barrier. It also introduced her to a community of like-minded individuals.

Esther is most excited to learn about energy systems and how they are being developed and improved to meet net zero emission goals. This has been an interest of hers and she wants to learn about how we can move towards a more sustainable future.
