Biography

Emma graduated from Bishop Carroll High School. While there, she was able to achieve high grades while balancing academics and practicing for RCM piano exams, training, and coaching gymnastics, and performing with her gym’s performance team. She was able to perform at national events like the Canadian Gymnaestrada.

Emma chose UCalgary because she lives in Calgary the gym she coaches and trains at is nearby. She also recognized that it was one of the few universities in Canada that had a geomatics engineering program.

Emma is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Engineering program because she loves to figure out how things work and to solve problems. She plans on majoring in Geomatics Engineering because she enjoys working with data and software.

After university, Emma plans to work in GIS or another related field that uses lots of data analysis and modeling.

For Emma, the award will allow her to focus on learning and competing in gymnastics rather than worrying about finances. The award will also help her find more connections within engineering.

Emma is interested in learning more about positioning and navigation and how spatial data is used to make the world a better place.
