Biography

Ekam graduated from Mayor World School in Jalandhar, India. While there, she became President of her school’s student body. She was also a Campus Ambassador Intern for the International Model United Nations. Additionally, she volunteered for Safecity, Child Rights and You, and the Eduyouth Foundation.

Ekam chose UCalgary because of its impressive reputation and choice of programs available. She was also drawn to its global ranking and high graduation employment rate. She also admires the university’s research and entrepreneurship.

Ekam is in the Bachelor of Science – Engineering program. She chose this program because of the common first year which allows her to explore the various areas of engineering and decide on a specialization in a collaborative and hands-on environment.

Ekam wants to graduate from university as a successful engineer who possesses the skills and knowledge to thrive in the work field. She wants to work toward the betterment of the world and to help make changes where needed.

For Ekam, the Prestige Award allows her to pursue studies without stressing over international tuition. It helps her focus on her education rather than being burdened by financial commitments. Receiving this award makes her feel honoured and grateful.

Ekam is interested in the chemical field of engineering since a career in this field would help her make a positive impact on the world while studying the courses she enjoys. Ekam finds it a versatile field and she hopes to develop a particular interest in one of the many options it has to offer.
