Chinenye E

Chinenye graduated from Miller Comprehensive Catholic High School in Regina, SK. While there, she maintained major honour role status through all 4 years. She also volunteered with RCMP and was a member of Better Bus Youth, helping with implementing free transit for youth in Regina.

Chinenye chose UCalgary because of its friendly atmosphere and remarkable Psychology program, with many opportunities for research and collaboration with other like-minded individuals. She also saw that UCalgary would provide her with the skills, knowledge, and support that would aid her in reaching her academic and career goals.

Chinenye is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program, majoring in Psychology. She chose this program because she wants to improve her understanding of environmental and biological influences on behavior and use this knowledge to provide solutions to real-world problems.

Chinenye hopes to pursue a career as a clinical psychologist, specializing in children and adolescents, to address mental health issues affecting youth.

For Chinenye, the Prestige Award allows her to fully focus on her studies and on being involved in her community without having to worry about finances. It has also provided her with a student community and opportunities for mentorship and volunteering which she is very grateful for.

As for research interests, Chinenye wants to explore the long-term effects of advancing technology and the social spaces it continues to create on our cognitive and behavioural processes.
