Biography
Adriana graduated from Academia Britanica Cuscatleca in Santa Tecla, El Salvador. One of her biggest achievements was the resilience it took to balance ballet with her grades and other extracurricular activities. She was also selected as the head of the student government, where her mission was to increase inclusivity and open-mindedness in the community. Additionally, she worked on The Jingle Project, collecting and distributing Christmas gifts for children in need.
Adriana wanted to become a civil engineer to help local communities become more sustainable and accessible by improving their infrastructure. She was drawn to UCalgary because it offers a unique education that will allow her to achieve these goals. As a young Latina woman, she was also interested in joining the Women in Science and Engineering club, which she is now a part of.
Adriana is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Engineering program. She has always had a passion for building and design. This, combined with her love for mathematics, led to her interest in civil engineering.
Adriana wants to work as a structural engineer with a focus on creating infrastructure that positively impacts communities.
For Adriana, the Prestige Award welcomed her into a supportive community fostering a culture of mutual support and encouragement to strive for excellence. It also opens many doors for leaning and developing her skills.
Adriana is primarily interested in sustainable and eco-friendly construction projects. Her passion lies in discovering new and innovative green technologies, renewable energy solutions, and building materials that are safe and beneficial for the environment.
Adriana’s life motto is “We rise by lifting others” because it reminds her of the importance of reflecting on her journey.
