Biography
Taro graduated from Bishop Carroll High School in Calgary, AB. While there, he represented Canada at the World Individual Debate and Public Speaking Championships. Also, he was a finalist in the Debate and Impromptu Speaking Categories. Additionally, he was a member of the team voted “Best Prototype” at the 2021 Shad Canada McGill. He was also the valedictorian of his high school for his graduating class.
Taro was drawn to UCalgary because he feels that innovation and leadership are prioritized and encouraged. As someone who wishes not only to succeed but to also make a significant impact on his community, he was excited to attend UCalgary.
Taro is enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce – Business program. He chose to study at Haskayne because of its strong academic reputation, connections to the industry, and focus on entrepreneurship.
In the future, Taro hopes to pursue a career at the intersection of finance, entrepreneurship, innovation, and data analytics.
For Taro, receiving the prestige award allows him the opportunity to devote his energy and resources to his academic and extracurricular pursuits and will provide a springboard to his early career and entrepreneurial endeavors.
During his studies, Taro hopes to learn more about the usage and integration of analytics and how their application in professional sports can apply to other fields.
