Awards and Scholarships

Nabihah graduated from Fort McMurray Composite High School in Fort McMurray, AB. While there, she received the Alberta Premier Citizenship Award for demonstrating leadership, community service, and volunteerism. She also worked with the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) program, supporting newcomers to Canada and helping them adjust to their new school environments. She also considers winning the Schulich Leader Scholarship one of her biggest academic achievements.

Nabihah considered the decision to study at UCalgary an easy decision. She found the environment diverse and uplifting, with its wide range of programs and focus on research opportunities for students, it was everything she was looking for in an academic institution.

Nabihah is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Computer Science program. Her interest in this field sparked in high school and she felt driven by the impact she could make in pursuing this program.

Nabihah’s future career ambitions include securing a meaningful position in a male-dominated workplace while contributing innovative ideas and technology to the industry to break gender barriers and be a role model for other girls who want to pursue a career in STEM.

Receiving a Prestige Award has been both an honour and a source of motivation for Nabihah as she pursues academia at UCalgary. The award has removed her financial stress and has opened numerous opportunities for her to explore her interest in STEM.

Nabihah wants to focus on AI development, and she is excited to lend her efforts to technology that is interactive, functional, and accessible to a broad audience.

Nabihah is filled with gratitude to be named a recipient of this prestigious scholarship and is grateful for all the support she’s received along the way.
