Biography
Daniela graduated from Grande Prairie Composite High School in Grande Prairie, AB. While there, she created a peer tutoring club, became vice president of her school’s student council, and was the captain of the senior girl’s volleyball team.
Daniela was drawn to UCalgary because of its welcoming atmosphere and its commitment to excellence, specifically in the area of research. She appreciates UCalgary’s diverse selection of clubs and volunteer opportunities, providing her with many ways to get involved.
Daniela is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Neuroscience (Honours) program. She chose this program because she believes the interdisciplinary, research-focused nature of the program will provide her with many opportunities post-graduation.
After completing her degree, Daniela wants to enroll in medical school and become a doctor. As a doctor, she wants to promote and advocate for women’s health.
For Daniela, the Prestige Award will allow her to complete her undergraduate degree without having to have large student loans or work numerous hours a week. It allows her the time to focus on her academics, engage in clubs, and volunteer in her community.
As for research interests, Daniela is drawn to the research in the early identification, treatment, and prevention of mental illness that is being conducted at the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Mathison Centre.
