Biography
Abdul graduated from DPS Jeddah in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. While there he earned the title of “Mr. DPS.” (Student of the Year) and was the Cultural Secretary of his school. He also delivered a speech on the 90th National Education Day at the Consulate General of India, Jeddah, and led the Annual Debate Competition. He also names receiving the Seymour Schulich Academic Excellence Scholarship as one of his top achievements.
Abdul chose to study at UCalgary because he admired its position as one of the top research universities in Canada, as well as its commitment to entrepreneurship. He was also interested in UCalgary’s 300 student clubs and being in the heart of the mountains and the Canadian prairies. Additionally, the summer studentships, research opportunities, and many student events led him to choose UCalgary.
Abdul is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Engineering program because he has been interested in the field since childhood. He has always been curious about the internal mechanisms of machines, rockets, and devices, and he’s always had a knack for problem-solving. He also has an interest in programming and AI.
Abdul hopes to one day become a software engineer, and he has a special interest in robotics. Abdul loves to sketch robots, program them and run them. His main goal is to become an entrepreneur, lead companies and manage businesses.
For Abdul, the Prestige Award provides a sense of motivation, helping him to take on challenges and positively contribute to society. It encourages him to achieve more in the future.
Abdul is keenly interested in researching AI and its effects on people and the economy. He’s interested in digging deeper into this field by organizing surveys, watching documentaries, and writing theses. He feels that AI is going to have many effects on society in the future decades and he feels the subject has a large scope and practicality.
Abdul is also interested in innovating and launching products he has designed like gaming consoles and software or developing websites and interfaces.
