Biography

"The only two things you control are your attitude and effort.”

While Steven is proud to be a mechanical engineering student at the University of Calgary, he is especially proud of his dedication to helping the communities around him. As a member of the Chancellor Ambassador’s Club, he loves volunteering around the city and finding ways to give back both on and off campus. Throughout high school, he enjoyed giving back to his sports community as an assistant soccer coach, to his school community as a Link Leader, and to his church community as an audio technician.

Through his participation in the Project 90 Club this year, Steven had the opportunity to design and model a roof-top greenhouse for a community center in Bolivia to alleviate food insecurity in the area. This type of project – the intersection of engineering design and philanthropic work – is what motivated Steven to pursue engineering. He eagerly looks forward to continuing to apply project management and engineering skills to have positive impacts on the lives of others – both during the remainder of his degree and after graduation.

In his free time, Steven enjoys spending time with his friends and family in the mountains, hiking, skiing, biking, and anything else that will get him outdoors.
