Biography

"It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed." - Theodore Roosevelt

As a high school student, I was drawn to the Bachelor of Health Sciences program as I desired a program that would allow me to keep my career options wide open while providing me with an opportunity to explore as many branches of science as possible. Over the past few years, I have been fortunate enough to explore various scientific fields ranging from bioinformatics to behavioural neuroscience. Now, nearing completion of my undergraduate degree, I aim to obtain a master's degree in community health sciences, likely with a health services research-oriented focus. Upon completion of my master's degree, I intend to pursue a career as a physician.

Being a student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program has also expanded my interest in volunteerism and student leadership over the years. To name a few of my most memorable experiences, as a second-year student I was selected to serve as the Junior Executive Coordinator of Professional Events for the Health Advocacy and Leadership Engagement Club on campus. Then, leading up to the 2021 municipal election in Calgary, I advocated for community water fluoridation as part of the student-run Fluoride: Pay It Forward group. More recently, I participated in the 2022 edition of the University of Calgary's multi-disciplinary Global Community Challenge YYC, which involved my team partnering with the Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre to address the Centre’s difficulty engaging with vulnerable groups in need of legal support.

Regarding how I like to use my free time, I enjoy playing soccer and basketball with friends, lifting weights, and reading sports journalism pieces.
