Biography

I have just completed my third year of Biological Anthropology. I aim to apply the insights that I gain in this program to the medical field in the future, as I hope to go to medical school. I am especially interested in going into dermatology or orthopedics.

I am very passionate about language and travel, and have been tying these interests into my academic journey. I have taken Spanish and Arabic courses at the University, and enjoy taking part in abroad experiences, especially for research. Last summer, I completed a group research trip in Belize, where I conducted primatological research and learned fundamental fieldwork skills. This summer, I will be a field assistant for a research program in Peru, where I will again work with primates (along with other small mammals) and learn to do biological sampling and large-scale data collection. Further, I will be doing a semester abroad in Spain next year.

Regarding big-picture goals, I hope to be part of the revision and improvement of North American medical systems in the future through the application of biology, ethnographic research, and the emic perspective, as taught in my degree.
