- Staggered stance facing partner
- Both partners hold the same stick (horizontally) with two hands
- Slight elbow bend
- Drive legs to push partner forward while resisting movement from partner
- Keep chest upright
- Slight bend at hips and knees
- Excessive force from partner that pushes the athlete too far off balance that they cannot recover, or that causes the athlete to be in an unsafe position
- Educate partner about the importance of safety of teammates
- Pair players of similar sizes/strengths together
- Narrow stance
- Cue "Widen stance to create a stronger base of support"
- Folding forward at the hips
- Cue "Proud chest"
- Shoulder activation and stability
- Trunk strength and stability
- Preparation for contact
