Collaborators and Partners
Creating a long-term collaboration with the industrial sector is an important component of this project. Since the proposed research is in a high-demand technology sector, close interaction with industry will play a critical role in the success of this project, enhance our research efficiency and further the technology transfer process. To achieve this goal, we will invite our industrial partners for direct involvement throughout the training program by offering industry oriented and professional skills courses, student supervision, and advice on curriculum, ensuring that CREATE-MSS maintains its strong industry-relevance. Industrial collaborators will also be involved in the advisory board which will help CREATE-MSS remain responsive to technological advances. We will also invite all our collaborators to participate in our outreach activities, such as field demonstrations and the CREATE-MSS ICM. Our partners will also contribute to the Internship Program which will enhance the trainees’ communication skills and business acumen, and to enable trainees to engage directly with potential employers. CREATE-MSS trainees will have opportunities for additional professional development and networking with industry partners through events hosted by UC’s My GradSkills program, TECTERRA, Innovate Calgary, APEGA, and the CREATE-MSS ICM.
16 collaborators and partners from industry and academia, all working in one or more aspects of MSS, will support the CREATE-MSS program.

Together, our combined funding, publications, industry and academic collaborations, and HQP highlight an emerging leadership role within Canada regarding MSS research and training. Collaborations amongst the applicants are numerous and productive, and include co-supervised trainees and active research. Some examples are outlined below:
- Drs. Kattan and Petovello received a university grant (VPR matching grant) worth 150K related to Human Dynamics and Smart Cities.
- Co-PI Drs. El-Sheimy, Noureldin, Klukas, and collaborators Drs. Gao, Li and El-Rabbany has several NCE ($1-2 millions) funded projects on MSS.
- Drs. Nelisen, Petvello, and O’Keefe have many industry-funded projects on indoor location and MSS.
