The University of Calgary is committed to intentionally pursuing inclusive excellence. The Student Access Process includes an additional review, considering factors that may have negatively impacted a student's access to university admissions.

The Student Access Process recognizes and acknowledges that students have diverse identities, backgrounds and experiences that have shaped their opportunities. The Student Access Process welcomes applications from students from equity-deserving groups and/or students that have experienced barriers such as social and economic challenges, acute illness, chronic conditions, disability, marginalization and/or systemic discrimination. We are committed to considering these negative impacts holistically by considering an applicant's background, educational pathway and work/family responsibilities with the University of Calgary's admission requirements to ensure all applicants are given the opportunity to succeed.

To be eligible to apply under the Student Access Process, students must:

  • Indicate their desire to be considered under the Student Access Process in the application for admission by the application deadline
  • Submit a personal statement in addition to the standard application materials by the deadline
