Celebrate at the UCalgaryStrong Festival

The annual end of year festival is a chance for students, staff and faculty to come together and look back on their accomplishments from the previous year. Take a break from the books and drop-in for some free snacks, live music and a good time.

UCalgary Strong Goals

To achieve these goals, the initiative relies on specialized programs and services that focus on three key development areas:

Build leadership capacity

Strong leaders begin with a strong sense of self-awareness. The leadership component of UCalgaryStrong asks participants to define the innate talents that make them unique, then to build on this knowledge through strengths-based workshops and exercises. Since its inception, this approach has helped to instill in students the confidence to engage in personal leadership development throughout their student journey.

Build strong communities

While the development of thoughtful, resilient individuals is an important part of a strong community, it is the member’s commitment to a shared set of principles that defines their collective value. By looking-out for one another, working on projects together, or just taking time to play and socialize, the community thrives when cooperation becomes collaboration.

Build personal resiliency

Sometimes it’s difficult to bounce back from the challenges presented by post-secondary life, but by normalizing help-seeking and establishing positive personal habits, this component of UCalgaryStrong encourages students to move through those challenges more fluidly, and to develop the personal resiliency skills necessary to stay in good mental and physical health.
