We look forward to meeting you! Join us at the Welcome Ceremony and Pep Rally, Day 1 Afternoon Sessions, Faculty Orientation, the UCalgaryStrong Carnival, and close out the week at SU Tailgate and Dinos Kick-Off!

Events Overview

This year's New Student Orientation events on Thursday, August 29 & Friday, August 30 are an exciting mix of social opportunities, events, and Day One Afternoon Sessions. A senior-level student called an Orientation Leader will lead you and a group of your faculty peers through all events during both days.

Day 1: New Student Welcome/Pep Rally

This is your official welcome from the University of Calgary. Your Orientation Leaders will bring you into the Jack to celebrate with your faculty peers at this beloved tradition and put your faculty chant practice to the test in a friendly competition with other faculties. Don't forget to pick up your t-shirt! Scroll down to view the map.

Day 1: New Student BBQ

Lunch is on us! Immediately following the New Student Welcome/Pep Rally take a break and get to know some of your new classmates at the New Student BBQ.

Day 1: Afternoon Sessions

Discovering different campus offerings is half the fun of beginning university!

Day 2: Faculty Orientation

Faculty Orientation will introduce you to the student expectations, degree streams, and programs within your faculty and department. You’ll also have the chance to meet advising staff, some of your instructors and meet more of your classmates.

Day 2: UCalgaryStrong Carnival

Happening in the TFDL Quad from 1–3 p.m., UCalgaryStrong Carnival is your first opportunity to engage with UCalgary as you learn about key campus services and resources, and how to get involved on campus!

Day 2: SU Tailgate and Kickoff

Enjoy tailgate activities hosted by your Students' Union (SU) and a free BBQ at McMahon Stadium followed by Kick-Off as an exciting way to close out the week!

The annual first football game of the season at McMahon Stadium is not to be missed. Wear red, show some team spirit and have fun!

Check-in and t-shirt pick up

Pick up your orientation t-shirts between 8:30–9:45 a.m. at the locations shown on the map. After you have picked up your shirts, meet your Orientation Leader and group members to practice your Faculty Chant!
