Biography

Sue Crawford holds baccalaureates in Zoology (2011) and Nursing (2013) from UCalgary. Sue is in the last semester of her Master of Nursing, completing research on the narrative experience of disability within families. She has a decade of experience in various roles in the disability community including as a support worker, programming lead, supportive roommate, and board director.

As a registered nurse with Psychiatric Emergency Services at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, Sue works with some of the most at-risk families in our city. Secondary to her nursing and community work, in 2016, she co-founded ENABLE, a social enterprise that recruits and makes meaningful matches between support workers and people with disabilities. ENABLE support workers have invested over 15,000 hours one-to-one with clients in the community.

In recognition of her work, Sue was named the Distinguished Graduate Student of 2018 by the Women's Resource Centre, is a third-time recipient of the Scholarship for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and holds 10 graduate nursing scholarships for her innovation and leadership in nursing practice.
