Biography

Mike Moore is the Vice President and Alternate Governor of the Calgary Hitmen and Vice President and Governor of the Calgary Roughnecks.

Moore graduated from the University of Calgary in 1987 with a Political Science Major and English Minor. He spent the next 8 years coaching and scouting hockey while working in the Calgary area including the role of Owner Operator of a small commercial paint company. He returned to the University of Calgary and graduated with an MBA in 1997.

Moore is in his 23rd season in the Western Hockey League and 13th with the Calgary Hitmen. His tenure with the franchise began with a one-year term as Assistant General Manager in 1997-98. He then served as General Manager of the Kamloops Blazers for six seasons (1998-2004) and Medicine Hat Tigers for one season (2004-05) before spending three seasons as Director of Athletics with Edge School (2005-08).

He returned to the Hitmen for the 2008-09 season as Director of Business Operations before adding the title of Assistant General Manager in 2012. Moore moved to the role of General Manager and Vice President of Business Operations in 2013 and was then promoted to Vice President and Alternate Governor in 2017.

During his Hitmen tenure, Moore has received a pair of WHL recognitions: Marketing/Public Relations Award in 2010-11 and Eastern Conference nominee for the Lloyd Saunders Memorial trophy as WHL Executive of the Year in 2013-14.

With the Roughnecks, Moore was the Director of Business Operations for the initial two years of operations when they were acquired by the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation in 2011. He left the Roughnecks in 2013 to focus his attention on the Hitmen prior to returning to the Roughnecks in the 2017-18 season. He was part of the Roughnecks National Lacrosse League Championship team in 2019.
