Stephen West

Dr. Stephen West is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and a member of the Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre. Originally from Ireland, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science and Health from Dublin City University before completing his PhD at the University of Bath in 2019. His doctoral research focused on injury epidemiology and training load management in professional rugby players. Stephen completed his post-doctoral training at the Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre, with a focus on injury prevention in youth rugby, followed by three-years at the University of Bath as a lecturer in Injury Prevention. Stephen’s current research examines risk factors for injury and concussion in athletes, with his work focusing on training strategies, policy changes and protective equipment.
